For faculty and staff: Train to tutor with TutorLingo

TutorLingo tutor training is a resource available to departments on campus that would like to train their tutors. This tutor training can be used to supplement an existing tutor training, or it can serve as a stand-alone training. TutorLingo is online, self-paced, and available to tutors to complete 24 hours a day.

TutorLingo is a series of on-demand videos and valuable resources focused on tutor training. These videos are practical online tools that can be used to support your tutor training needs and are absolutely free for you to use to train your tutors.

How the tutor training works

The TutorLingo tutor training videos are presented by experts in the field of tutoring and learning assistance. Tutors from your department will be able to access tutor training videos and complete the training at their own convenience. All tutors can participate by accessing the IU Indianapolis TutorLingo website. There are eight on-demand training videos available to tutors, which are each 20–30 minutes in length. After watching all the training videos, tutors will receive a certificate of completion from TutorLingo.

Developing Critical Thinking Skills (using critical thinking skills, Bloom’s taxonomy, metacognition, and the study cycle)
Learning Theory (developing questions using Bloom’s taxonomy, positive reinforcement, and exploring preferred intelligence)
